Rosemary Topiaries

I got a really good deal on some rosemary plants at Walmart. There were 4 plants in each pot, and I bought 2. Eight plants for 8.00! They were the perfect size to train into globe topiaries. I had done this before and had kept two alive for ten years or so. But last winter they both died and I wanted to try it again.

After potting them up, I trimmed off the lower growth. I use wooden skewers to stake them and tie up with raffia. I'll keep trimming the side growth until they are as tall as I want. Then I'll start trimming to make a round shape. It takes quite awhile to get the perfect topiary, but I love the look.

Here they all are, lined up like little soldiers.

I'm taking a bit of a rest today. Had to have some out patient surgery on my foot. So no gardening for a little while. I'll use the time to browse blogland, and work on an embroidery project I want to finish up.

Have a great weekend!

Wow! You scored a great deal! Hope that they grow into wonderful and gorgeous topiaries.
Best of luck with the foot surgery. I hope that you heal quickly, and that you are able to get back in the gardens soon.
Have a happy day!

Beautiful... we tackled our back yard last week before the 3 year old Grand-peep party. I still would like to add some color here and there. Hey by the way all that pretty PINK stuff is in my office/ Studio hubby would never allow those colors in the main living areas way to girley. Hope your foot heals quickly. oxox, Diane

They will be so fragrant and good all summer! And thanks for mentioning the books that ALL take place at the beach! I am going to check some of those out at the library! Sounds like my kind of reading! Take care of yourself! ♥

Treat that foot well!

And no, I don't have real gardens in Maine. I live right on the edge of the sea on granite ledge with blueberries, bayberries, lady slipper orchids, ferns, wild lilies, rugosa roses, and more. I garden only in containers and window boxes because someone who is a MUCH wiser and better gardener than I planned this natural, untouched garden perfectly.

Joys and get well,
