The Stockings Were Hung....

We don't have a chimney or mantel anymore (we used to have a woodstove) so I hang the stockings on various pieces of furniture in the living room.

Years ago I was into cross stitch (and I mean, really into it!). I made these stockings for Rick and I in 1987.
These are hung on the dry sink that Rick made.

I made the boys quilted stockings with cross stitch accents. But sadly, they got stained while being stored in the attic.

I made Tad's stocking last weekend. I used a design in an old Debbie Mumm book.

Now I'm going to go work on some clothes pin bags for my etsy shop. I'll let you know when they are ready. They'd make a great gift for your "green" friends!

Have a great weekend with all your holiday decorating, crafting, baking, and shopping. Sheesh, what a busy time, right?

Love your Christmas stockings !!

I still haven't found ours, since the move.
Maybe I'll have to buy some new ones :)

We have a wood burning stove too, and no mantle, so I am going to hang mine on one of the plate racks.

Have a great weekend!!

These are absolutely wonderful! I too hang the oldies but goodies. Sentimental to the core it seems we both are.
Thank you once again for your lovely tags for my swap. I will posting them out as soon as a few last ones arrive.
They are all such fun, and I hope you enjoy them.
Merry Christmas! Elizabeth

I love that photo of the cat in your header... so darn cute!

Your stockings are fabulous, that is a shame that those two are stained. I have had huge success using oxy clean (even the dollar store knock off ones) Anywho, you soak the item in boiling water and add the oxy clean, it bubbles the stain right out. Its amazing.

Your needing to put a link to your etsy store on your blog... I couldn't find one!!! :-)
BIG HUG,
Cheryl

This is my favorite time of the year! Your blog has given me new inspiration. I have finally begun my very own blog - berriesandmore.blogspot.com - and hope to work out the "bugs" that are in it at the present time. I was just tired waiting for the "right time.":-) It appears that we are turning into a "blogging family," because one of our daughters has begun one of her own - munchomom.com - that is mainly about food.

It has been a very good week-end thus far, and I hope that yours is going well, too.

They are all so pretty. When our children were "brand new" and I wanted us to all have matching stockings, I used an unfinished quilt top that my husband's 90 year old grandmother gave me. It was too small to make a quilt with, but large enough to make a stocking for each of us, 5 in total. I cross stitched the names on each one and cross stitched the biblical meaning of each name underneath. For 28 years we have used these stockings. The children are grown, but they want me to keep these stockings up at Christmas, because the hold a lot. LOL. So I have never made any more............but I think about heavily embroedering one someday. Blessings,Kathleen

It's so good to have homemade stockings...family heirlooms. Could you soak the stained stocking in some oxyclean? That might get the stains out.
