Easter Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had! Lots of things I love - family, friends, and gardening. It didn't hurt that the weather was fairly warm and sunny.

On Saturday we went to the garden center and got those pretty violas. I like them better than the bigger pansies. Then we picked up 6 chicks from the feed store. We have always ordered day-old chicks from a mail order company, so I was surprised that these were already three weeks old. We didn't really mind, because we weren't required to buy a minimum, and we didn't need 25 of the little guys:)

While Rick got the chicks settled into their new home, I played in the greenhouse and planted out the violas. What a happy time here, checking the flower beds several times a day to see what's coming up.

We were hosting Easter dinner, so I cooked all day. On the menu was ham, twice baked potatoes, roasted asparagus, deviled eggs and rolls. Our friends brought roasted brusel sprouts, salad, and a cheese and meat tray. For desert we had banana split dessert, chocolate cupcakes, and cookies. Lots of food for lots of people. We had to squeeze around the table, but we had so much fun.

Tad had a great time collecting eggs in the backyard, while the adults ran around taking pictures of him. Doesn't he look cute in the bunny ears I got him? And of course, Eric spent a good part of time reading Tad the books he got in his Easter basket :)

Awww, your little grandson Tad looks so adorable. He's awfully cute in those blue bunny ears. Egg hunts are so much fun, even when the kids get bigger. Would you believe me if I told you that we still have egg hunts for the kids and nieces and nephews? And they are in their late teens and early twenties! :-) Your Easter dinner sounds delicious, too. The violas are lovely. Those are one of my mom's favorite flowers. And the little chicks are so cute when they are little like that. I see lot of fresh egg omelets in your future.
Cindy, I also have to tell you thank you! Your box of Easter goodies arrived here today and I LOVE all of it. I can't get over how talented you are and how beautifully made everything is.

Beautiful photos, Cindy, of your Easter weekend! Love the little chicks, and your violas. I prefer the smaller pansies, too. They come is such sweet colors and are so hardy! It will be nice to see photos of your chicks growing up! Speaking of growing up, Tad is getting to be a big boy now, out gathering eggs by himself! Love those big brown eyes! So precious! xx

Violas are so pretty and they seem to last longer than pansies. Tad makes the sweetest bunny rabbit! So wonderful that you had a blessed Easter! Can't wait to read more on your new flock of chicks!
